Day to Day  (written 2/99)

Does any one person ever understand another

Reach past inner perception to see someone else’s light?

Or its it an uncanny projection and we can’t see past our own faces

To tell what’s right?

But you don’t understand my questions you say

Girl who cares, just live day to day to day

I don’t want to minimize my life,

But if I can simplify it then I think I’ll be o.k.

Everything in moderation is what I once heard

Sometimes coping doesn’t account for that way

And it’s hard to know what to throw out and what to give away

You never know what you might be needing on a rainy day to day

We’ve all got our own idea about independence

We’ve all got out own vision of self

But if we don’t ask questions critically

You’ll be listening to the answers of somebody else

Take a position say what you must say

You can lead or follow otherwise

Stay the hell out of the way

What if our thoughts are a form of energy

And we’ve been resisting it all these years

Our minds are our bodies and our bodies are our minds

Dualism can only see itself through a mirror

People live life to the extreme of each side

Struggling back and forth from left to right

I try to keep my own defenses down

Accept my will not to fight

Community may seem broken

So many differences within the earth’s stare

You might not give a shit you might not even care

You might not eat meat, or you might just eat it rare

We’ve all got our own idea about self-reliance

We’ve all got our own image of happiness

Ask the right questions critically

Then lay the answers to rest

Encircled thoughts breathe within you and if you

Follow the way and the way will follow you
